1. Pin down the actual problem
Document what’s not working, limit any ongoing damage, and note anything tried before.
2. Assess the whole space
Storage layout, clearances, lighting, ventilation, plumbing, gas lines, and any structural change all have to be settled before finish decisions are made.
3. Put it in writing
Prep, protection, materials, access, permits, testing, cleanup, restoration, exclusions, and change-order terms belong in the scope document.
4. Compare the reasoning behind each bid
Check credentials first, then see how each provider’s logic differs, not just their totals.
5. Confirm closeout
Testing, cleanup, documentation, warranty terms, and any remaining upkeep should all be confirmed before you sign off.
